Parenting Assessment

Parenting Assessment

A Parenting/family functioning assessment is an in-home evaluation which includes four components to help identify the strengths and needs of the family. The first component includes an interview with the parent which involves a detailed discussion of family history as well as current needs in the home related to parenting and family functioning. The second involves an evaluation of the condition of the home. This helps to ensure the safety of the child in the home and make sure all needs are being met. The third component is an observation of the parent with the child(ren) to assess parenting ability and any needs in this area. Finally, evidence-based test instruments are used to identify the strengths and needs of the family. These four components help our team of licensed clinicians determine the best recommendations for treatment to help the overall well-being of the family.

Treatment recommendations may include but are not limited to:

  • Parenting Education
  • Family Therapy
  • Individual Therapy
  • Couples Therapy
  • Home-Based Casework
  • Additional Specialized Assessment or Evaluation
